Training and Development Specialist

About the Role: We are seeking a Training and Development Specialist to join our mission-driven team in Portland, OR. In this role, youll provide training and support to direct service staff and agency foster parents serving children and youth in program and home settings. This position requires strong training and facilitation skills and the ability to help others apply training content into practice. Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver training in classroom and small group settings, both in person and virtually.
  • Scheduled training sessions include up to 12 weekend trainings per year.
  • Assist in the onboarding process to ensure new hires meet training requirements and are prepared for direct service care.
  • Model best practices in direct care as needed and guide staff on integrating training concepts into daily practice.
  • Identify and manage educational materials, maintain the training library, and share training opportunities with staff.
  • Develop and refine training curricula, handouts, and other educational resources.
  • Apply adult learning principles in training sessions, ensuring a conducive learning environment, and providing accommodations for diverse learners.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree with five (5) years of post-graduate experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience delivering services to families and children, and youth, preferably in the areas of foster care and/or youth homelessness.
  • Experience in training delivery and facilitation, training/curricula development, and supporting staff to implement best practices.
