Job Title: Security Manager

General Definition: Oversee the day to day operations of the Security Department including employee management and internal standards and procedures are at adherence at all times at a facility level.

Supervision Received: General Manager and/or Assistant General Manager

Supervision Exercised: Security Department

Essential Job Functions:

  • Manage the daily operation of the Security department ensuring all employees, patrons and assets are provided with the safest and most secure environment by effective management of security resources.
  • Hire, train, and develop all Security department personnel into a cohesive security force that adheres to all department rules, regulations, and standard operating procedures to limit the possibility of criminal activity on property.
  • Ensure all security equipment including, but not limited to uniforms, badges, are safely secured, repaired and maintained by keeping current records on an Excel spreadsheet and maintenance logs.
  • Review daily report of all incidents occurring at the facility. Compile and complete monthly reports of all incidents for submission to the General Manager and Assistant General Manager.
  • Provide information to appropriate management personnel for use in planning and implementation of security requirements for special events to allow for proper security presence to deter potential criminal activity.
  • Create security budget for facility based on current security needs.
  • Work closely with other departments to provide analysis and interpretation of data when needed to resolve issues with employees and patrons.
  • Review all emergency action plans and Security department responses: fire, weather, medical, internal alarms, etc. ensuring established procedures are followed in order to provide a safe and secure environment to our patrons, guest and property assets.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Must be able to assist Security Officers in day to day operations based on facility needs
  • Must be able to work various hours as needed, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be able to read, understand, apply, and retain knowledge of departmental rules, guidelines, and policies
  • Must be able to operate a hand-held radio and must be able to learn Security radio codes
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time
  • May be required to lift/carry up to 50 lbs. based on facility needs
  • Must be able to understand and apply oral or written instructions
  • Must be able to prepare hand written, legible reports and type written reports in a clear concise language based upon facility needs
  • Must be able to define problems, collect data, and establish facts
  • Must possess good communication skills and work successfully in a team environment
  • Basic computer and typewriting skills necessary, to include basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must be able to sit at a desk/computer for at least one (1) continuous hour at a time
  • Must be able to work in fast paced, noisy, smoke filled casino environment
  • Ability to work in environment not necessarily protected from weather and temperature changes with exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid or windy weather conditions for long periods of time

Training and Experience:
  • Three (3) years’ experience working in a Security department in a gaming facility required
  • Previous law enforcement and or military experience is a plus
  • One (1) year of management and or supervisory experience in the field of security is required
  • Knowledge of the gaming industry

Licenses/Certifications/Other:
  • Must pass an MMPI test
  • Must become TASER certified and required to carry as outlined in departmental guidelines, training provided
  • Must be able to pass a background check and receive/maintain a license or permit from the Shawnee Tribe Gaming Commission
  • Must be able to complete pre-employment drug test with a negative result
